Music is an integral part of worship service at Greater Middle Baptist Church. Choir members lift their voices to glorify and praise our Living Savior.
In Psalm 81, The Lord commanded us to “Sing aloud unto God our strength: Make a joyful noise to the God of Jacob.
In the New Testament scripture of Colossians 3:16, He further reminds us to “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to The Lord.”
The GMBC Music Ministry consists of two choirs: the Mass Choir and the Male Chorus.
The Mass Choir was organized in 1959 by the late Rev. Benjamin Hooks. It was a combined choir, consisting of members of all ages. They sing during worship service every first, second, and third Sunday.
The Male Chorus was organized in 1979 by the late Deacon Charles Turner. Members of this choir consist of males of all ages. The Male Chorus sings every fourth Sunday and frequently at churches throughout the city and across the country.
