Scriptures about Communion include the Last Supper accounts recorded in St. Matthew 26:26-28, St. Mark 14:22-25, and St. Luke 22:19-20. In these Holy Passages of Scripture, Jesus institutes and ordains the practice of Communion.
Additional key verses are 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, where the Apostle Paul explains its meaning and emphasizes self-examination. Also, Acts 2:42 and Acts 2:46 describe the early church’s practice of “breaking bread.”
Here at Greater Middle Baptist Church, we believe that everyone – whether healthy or bed-bound – should be able to participate in The Lord’s Supper, one of the most sacred Ordinances of the Christian church. Therefore, as a community outreach function, members of the October Birthday Ministry and Deacon Board sponsor a Communion Service for the occupants of Allenbrooke Nursing Home each third Thursday of the month at 10 a.m.
All GMBC members are invited to “break bread” with us, as we commemorate Christ’s sacrificial work on the Cross.
