Christian Education

Similar to a baby or child who requires the attention and care of his or her parents, a new Christian should also be fed and nurtured in the Word of God in order to grow stronger.

New Testament teachings indicate that the newest converts are considered “babes in Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:1-3), which refers to a state of spiritual adolescence or immaturity, indicating a need for learning and growth.

It is important to note that all Christians, even today’s veterans in the Gospel, have once been “babies in Christ” – also keeping in mind that no one holds a monopoly on the Gospel; it is the Truth of God shared with all who are willing to receive it.

Over time with consistent study of God’s Word in a nurturing Christian environment, we as God’s children should be able to model ourselves after Jesus Christ, who from His boyhood through adolescence and young adulthood continually grew stronger in the Word and in the favor of God and man. We see His spiritual growth in  St. Luke 1:80, St. Luke 2:40,  and St. Luke 2:52.

Just as Jesus did, we too should mature in God’s Word through consistent study, full immersion, and meditation. The Christian Education Ministry of Greater Middle Baptist Church helps to aid in the ongoing growth of believers at all stages of spiritual development.

Additionally, members of the Christian Education Ministry facilitate Leadership Training and special programs like Vacation Bible School. They, along with the Pastor and other GMBC leadership, ensure that books and other Christian study material are Biblically sound, age appropriate, and readily available for all members.

In summation, the fundamental purpose of Christian Education is growth and development in Jesus Christ. All are welcome to come in and grow with us!
