Benevolence

Sick and Shut-in Visitation

When experiencing extended periods of illness, it is easy to feel forgotten or pushed to the margins of life. The Greater Middle Baptist Sick and Shut-in Visitation Committee functions to ensure that GMBC members receive calls, prayer, and visits to uplift their spirits throughout their illnesses.

Members of the Sick and Shut-in Visitation Committee gather every Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. to visit a list of members to offer prayer, sing songs, and sometimes to observe The Lord’s Supper.

A key inspirational scripture inspiring the work of this committee comes from St. Matthew 25-31-46, in which Jesus shares the rewards for those who are mindful to visit  the sick.

Let us all keep those who are ill among us in our thoughts and prayers.

Bereavement

Although we are sure that death is certain for every living being, the child of God can be comforted in knowing that death is merely a transition into eternal peace with Christ in Paradise and rest from all forms of suffering. Jesus granted us this scriptural reassurance in St. Luke 23:39-43, when He spoke to the thief on the cross saying, “Today shalt though be with me in Paradise.” Every child of God who has lost loved ones can be comforted by this blessed assurance given to us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Greater Middle Baptist Church members who serve on the Bereavement Committee help to coordinate with families of members and relatives who have passed away.

Assistance is provided with securing Celebration of Life program participants, flowers and other gifts, as well as preparing and reading resolutions during homegoing and/or memorial services.
