Greater Middle Baptist Church firmly believes in education as a great equalizer in society, breaking down the walls of social divides that have historically separated us. We encourage GMBC youth and adults to passionately pursue self improvement through taking advantage of every educational opportunity. Furthermore, we encourage the exploration of the broad array of careers that are available in today’s job market.
This emphasis on education expands beyond the walls of GMBC and into local classrooms to positively impact youth who are not direct members of our congregation.
As a part of Greater Middle Baptist’s Adopt-A-School Program, GMBC members are supporting the educational pursuits of students at neighboring Evans Elementary School, which is GMBC’s adopted school.
In this outreach program, willing members donate an hour of their time from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays to tutor first and second grade students at Evans Elementary.
We have found that this program is a great way to support the development of tomorrow’s leaders and professionals by nurturing them as students today.
